Dividends for Client
Dividend distributions for each entity on the ‘Company Profile’ can be tracked on the ‘Dividends’ form.
Opening the Dividends Form
To open the ‘Dividends’ form, open the ‘Owner Register’ from the ‘Navigation’ toolbar on the left side of the web page.
Under ‘Forms’ on the left side of the ‘Owner Register’, press the ‘Dividends’ button.
The ‘Dividends’ form will open (see below).
Moving Between Companies’ Data
Move between company records by selecting a name on the ‘View All Companies’ list to the right of the form.
Select one of the dates in the list on the left side of the form to view the record of dividend distributions.
The distribution to each owner will appear in the grid (see below). The ownership type that the distribution was based on is selected at the top of the form, e.g. ‘Common’, ‘Preferred’, or ‘Units’. The number of shares or units held by each owner at the time of the distribution is in the ‘Shares/Units’ column (see below). The percentage of total ownership for each owner is calculated by the number of shares or units held by an owner divided by the total number of shares or units outstanding. The total dividend distribution is multiplied by each owner’s percentage of total ownership to obtain the amount in the ‘Projected’ column (see below). The projected amount is the owner’s projected share of the total distribution.
Entering a Dividend Distribution
To enter a dividend record, select the type of ownership at the top of the form. Enter the date of the distribution in item 1, near the top of the form (see below).
In item 2 enter the total amount of the dividend distribution (see below), and then press the ‘Add Dividend’ button. The date of the dividend will appear in the list of dates on the left side of the form and the grid will fill with information for each owner (see below).
The projected amount for each owner, listed in the ‘Projected’ column, is the total dividend multiplied by each owner’s percentage of total ownership. Initially the amount in the ‘Actual’ column is the same as the projected amount. The actual amount distributed to each owner can be changed if needed. Select an owner row and enter the actual amount to be distributed in item 4. Press the ‘Change Actual Value’ button. The ‘Totals’ value at the bottom of the ‘Actual’ column will recalculate to reflect the change.
Press the ‘Save Dividend’ button at the bottom of the form to commit the dividend distribution record to the database. A “Dividends have been Added” message (see below) will appear when the dividend record is saved to the database.
Select a date in the list of dividend distribution dates on the left side of the form. Press the ‘Delete Dividend’ button at the bottom of the form. The dividend record will be deleted. Press the ‘Save Dividend’ button to commit the change to the database.
The ‘Tools’ menu on the ‘Dividends’ form opens the ‘Owner Register’ where the ‘Tools’ menu options can be selected. Owner register tools are described in the ‘Owner Register Help’ file.
The ‘Reports’ menu on the ‘Dividends’ form opens the ‘Owner Register’ where the type of ownership can be selected, and reports can be created. Owner register reports are described in the ‘Owner Register Reports Help’ file.
